This past June the Fillies and the football players were put to work after volunteering for the Read and Roll of two thousand and nineteen.

Dr. Alisha Sigee, the sponsor over the Read and Roll, approached Mrs. Stephanie Smith, the Fillies sponsor, and asked if the students might participate and she agreed wholeheartedly for the students to be able to have the opportunity.

The Read and Roll is an event where young aspiring minds are picked to be involved and are taken on a field trip to a park where the Fillies and football players read to them a book of their choosing.

The children are given a lunch on this trip and are also rewarded a free book after the two hour reading is finished.

Junior Fillie Jayden Williams who participated in the Read and Roll explained that they read a variety of Dr. Seus and Biblical related books.

“I had a good experience, it was fun. I enjoyed working with the kids.” Jayden Williams said.

Read and Roll is not only a fun activity for young children it can also help the students to understand why reading can be fun and engages them in an activity that could further their interest in literature.
